A young student, Philomena Mutheu, has touched the hearts of many after writing an emotional letter, appealing to the president to aid in completing her secondary education.
The Kenyan girl who was orphaned at a tender age wrote a letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta asking for help to go back to school.
The passionate letter written by Mutheu, a form four student at St Mary’s School Kithangaini, attracted widespread attention after it trended on social media.
In her letter, the 17-year-old girl pleaded with the president to help her offset her school fees after she was sent home.
She also narrated how her suffering had plunged her into depression and a lot of pain.
“Am not in school, I was sent home a week ago due to unpaid school fees and other basic needs. Am always top ten in class, I have nobody to assist me, this has led to a lot of stress and depression,” part of the letter that trended on social media on Tuesday read.
