
The West African Examination Council has released the results for West African Senior School Certificate Examination, 2020.
The candidates who sat for the 2020 WASSCE papers failed in integrated science and social studies than Core Mathematics and English Language as compared to the year 2019.
The provisional results released by the West African Examination Council shows that there was an improvement in the performance of the candidates in English Language and Core Mathematics in 2020 as compared to the year 2019.
The grades A1 to C6 increased in percentage from 48.96% in 2019 to 57.34% in 2020 for the English language representing 8.38% of improved performance whereas Core Mathematics recorded an increase of 0.43%. In 2019, the percentage of students who passed the Core Mathematics was 65.31% and in 2020, they recorded 65.71%.
However, Social Studies and Integrated Science recorded a massive decline in performance as compared to the previous year in grades A1 to C6
Social Studies declined from 75.43% in 2019 to 64.31% in 2020, representing 11.12%. Integrated Science also declined from 63.17% in 2019 to 52.53% in 2020, representing 10.64%
