The Chairman of Isuikwuato Local Government Area, Chima Agbaeze, has cried out over the siege on his LGA by kidnappers and other criminals.
Agbaeze expressed concern “over the recent kidnapping on all the adjoining roads leading to the local government”, adding that “this unwholesome act of kidnapping and other forms of criminality preceded my administration and has persisted till this period, which has generated fear and anxiety on Ndi Isuikwuato LGA in particular and other road users at large.”
He further said, “Just yesterday, the 28th of January, 2021, the ugly news of the kidnap of a man travelling with some members of his family along Akoli to Isuikwuato road, which led to his murder rented both social, print, and electronic media, and this is highly regrettable.
“I must confess that this gruesome act is condemnable by both God and mankind has added salt to the injury, as the life of the promising young man was cut short due to greed, wickedness, and recklessness of some lazy youths that have resorted to criminality and drug abuse as a means of livelihood.”
He said the kidnapping and other criminality going on in different parts of Isuikwuato LGA, including Umuahia to Isuikwuato, ABSU to Isuikwuato, and Nunya roads, which have been a reoccurring decimal “is giving my administration serious concerns.
But the state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu says he is aware of “the sudden rise in violent crime around a bad spot before Akara Junction in Isuikwuato LGA and the recent spike in attacks on POS vendors in Aba” and charged the law enforcement agencies to dominate all affected spaces around Isuikwuato axis and combat the rising surge of crime there.
In his Twitter handle, Ikpeazu said, “On Aba, we are determined and have put machinery in motion to arrest within 10 days the few criminals who operate on tricycles.”
